15/11/2005 - Additions & Injuries

New Signing Richard Wootten made his debut on Saturday in goal in the 2-2 draw away to Bicester . Welcome to Richard and welcome back to Kevin Franklin who rejoins us from Thame United. Both will be useful additions as injuries and suspensions begin to take their toll .

On the injury front Mark Heffernan has dislocated his shoulder and will be out for up to six / eight weeks. Marcus Fearon is not due to return after a similar injury for about three / four weeks , we wish both  a speedy recovery .

Absentees last week were Jon Dixon ( calf strain ) , Paul Gilbert ( bruised knee ) both should return this week . Jason Weston is getting closer to match fitness and has played in the last two Reserve team victories scoring the winner at Eton Wick. Also playing was Ben Chadbone who has been sidelined with a broken arm for the past six weeks .

20/09/2005 - Further Signings

Wasps strengthened the squad last week with the signing of Damian Delisser and Jon Dixon , both of whom made their debuts in the recent 2-0 home win against Bisley Sports.

Damian joins us having had a year out from football . A fast , skillful and exciting attacking wide player who has previously played for Borehamwood  and Southall .

Jon is a central defender who is sure to be a useful addition to our club . Strong , good in the air with the ability to play football. Jon was previouly with Hillingdon Borough and Holmer Green .

We welcome both players to our club and wish them every success .

Chris Tullet has sadly returned to Holmer Green to play first team football. We wish him all the best and thank him for his contribution in our recent games.

12/09/2005 - Season Update

The season is now underway and we have collected nine points from our opening six matches .

We should in all honesty have more points on the board but i guess that's football . Our previous two games against Badshot Lea and Englefield Green were disappointing in terms of both the result and the performance .

With new players in the side this season i guess it will take time for them all to gel together and believe as the season progresses we will improve collectively . What has been pleasing is that we are trying to play football and have created more chances than the opposition in all of our games with the possible exception being Oxford Quarry Nomads . With Ian Robertson now returning to Uni we are looking to strengthen our defence and thank Ian for his contribution to date.

The game on Saturday against Hounslow was pleasing not only because we collected the three points but the players showed a desire to win the game from the outset. Most of  all was that at last we took the chances that come our way , which has been evidently lacking in our previous games .

The game itself was a competitive game to say the least with both teams showing they wanted to win the game . All over the park we responded well and apart from a chance in the first couple of minutes we looked solid and in control of the game .

All of the new lads have settled in well and a good team spirit is growing week by week which can only bode well for the campaign .

With Razor returning from suspension in two weeks and our forwards now hitting the net both myself and Kenny are looking to now take things on and push towards the top six .

Saturday this week , sees us entertain Bisley Sports who themselves have made a positive start to the season . We look forward to welcoming Andy Clement and his side but will be trying to take all three points from this and every game we play in this season .

01/09/2005 - 1st Team Update

Four games into the new season and we have made a decent start to the campaign winning and losing two games a piece .

However i can't help but feel a tad disappointed , especially as we have created so many good chances in each of our games . Our two losses against Oxford Quarry Nomads and Badshot Lea could easily have been different if we had taken our opportunities .

Still that's football i guess and as we all know it's a funny old game .

With many new faces it was always going to be a big ask for the lads to click immediately , but the signs are encouraging despite a 45minute no show in the first half against Badshot Lea last Saturday .

We still have players either suspended or on holiday , so touch wood when and if they return we could be even stronger .

In the Reserves , Alex and Richard are putting their final touches to pre-season as their campaign begins on September 10th away to Englefield Green Rovers , we wish them all the best and with a large first team squad hopefully all bodes well .

How does an six foot six defender ghost into the box to score ? Ask Robbo

22/08/2005 - FIRST HOME WIN vs HOLYPORT FC

vs Holyport FC - WASPS WIN AT HOME

Wasps began the season with an opening day home win against Holyport FC.  From the first minute Wasps attacked the visitors and passed the ball around to good effect and throughout the game created numerous chances.

Goals came from Liam O Neill , Andy Trickett , Raich Fraser , Pat Harmon and an own goal in the final two minutes to record the first three points of the new season . On the whole we performed well and could have scored more goals but for missed opportunities when in good positions .

Overall though we looked sharp and a good spirit is clearly visible within the squad .

On Tuesday evening we face Oxford Quarry Nomads at home with kick off at 6.30pm. With Paul Gilbert and Raich Fraser suspended , Sam Woodward and Pat Harmon unavailable we are fortunate enough to have a big squad with good players coming in to hopefully take their opportunity .

Good luck to the lads and hope to see you  at the game .
